The agent of Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr and Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, Diomansy Kamara, has accused football clubs of disrespecting African players.
Kamara expressed his frustration after two of his clients missed out on deadline day transfers. Sarr had reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool, while Camara had agreed personal terms over a move to Chelsea, only for Monaco to stop the deal at the last moment.
In a statement reported by journalists, Kamara said African players should not be treated merely as commodities in the transfer market. He called for greater respect for their work, careers, ambitions and personal decisions.
Kamara also argued that the wishes and voices of African players are too often overlooked when clubs negotiate their futures.
He said the football industry must move away from a system where African players are treated as assets whose value and future are determined entirely by clubs.
