Army Chief Seeks Partnership with PTDF on Local UAV Production

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has called for a partnership between the Nigerian Army and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, to promote skills development and local production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAVs.
The Army Chief made the call during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of PTDF, Shuaibu Aliyu, in Abuja.
Lieutenant General Shaibu said the partnership would help equip the Army with modern technologies needed to tackle insecurity across the country.
He stressed that modern warfare requires highly skilled personnel in drone production, operation and maintenance.
The Army Chief said Nigeria is at a critical point where science and technology have become essential to developing the skills needed to address contemporary security challenges.
Responding, the PTDF Executive Secretary said the Fund was pleased to support the initiative in line with its mandate and intervention programmes.
