The Federal Workers Forum has called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to urgently review the salaries of federal civil servants and increase the national minimum wage from 70,000 naira to 300,000 naira.

The demand was contained in a letter dated September 2, 2026, and signed by the forum's National Coordinator, Andrew Emelieze, and General Secretary, Ogundele Ayodele.

The letter was addressed to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives through the Clerk of the National Assembly. President Tinubu, the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation were also listed as recipients.

The forum is also proposing a salary of 1.5 million naira for Level 17 officers, arguing that the existing wage structure no longer reflects the economic realities facing federal workers.

The forum said its demand was prompted by what it described as the incomplete implementation of the 70,000 naira minimum wage approved in 2024. According to the group, federal workers have yet to receive the full consequential salary adjustment and related allowances arising from the wage review.
