The Federal Government has launched an online discount shop designed to provide serving and retired personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and their families with access to essential goods at discounted prices.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who launched the initiative in Abuja, said the scheme is part of broader efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel and their families.

Akume said the welfare of those serving the country extends beyond operational support, stressing that the well-being of personnel and their families is essential to maintaining a motivated and resilient Armed Forces. He said the initiative would help ease financial pressures on eligible beneficiaries while improving their access to essential goods and services.

In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his support towards improving the welfare of the Armed Forces, as well as to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and other stakeholders for their support for the initiative.

He said the online discount shop is only the beginning of a broader welfare programme aimed at improving the lives of military personnel, veterans and their families.

Oluyede added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria would leverage digital technology and existing service platforms to generate the necessary data for effective service delivery.
