The Federal Government has announced the removal of data charges for millions of Nigerian students accessing approved educational platforms. The initiative is aimed at making digital learning resources more accessible to learners across the country.

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, announced this at the launch of the Initiative for Zero-Rated Access to Educational Platforms and Content in Nigeria.

Alausa said the programme would help ensure that the cost of internet connectivity does not determine who can access quality education.

According to the Minister, the initiative, under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, is designed to remove one of the major barriers to the expansion of digital learning in Nigeria.

He said poverty, geographical location and limited access to conventional educational infrastructure should not prevent Nigerian children and young people from accessing learning opportunities.
