FG Warns Parents, Teachers, Students Against Examination Malpractice, Says It Undermines Credibility of Education System

The Federal Government has warned parents, teachers, school proprietors, principals, invigilators and students against examination malpractice, saying the practice undermines the credibility of Nigeria's education system.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, gave the warning during a meeting with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and other education stakeholders. He said examination malpractice had become deeply entrenched, creating an unfair environment for students who prepare honestly for their examinations. According to him, the practice distorts results, disadvantages hardworking students and weakens public confidence in qualifications awarded by the country's education system.
The minister stressed that tackling examination malpractice required collective responsibility, noting that students are not the only participants. He urged parents, teachers, proprietors, principals, invigilators and other stakeholders to uphold examination rules.
