The Nigeria Football Federation said world football governing body FIFA has formally accepted the resignations of its former principal officers and members of the federation's Executive Committee.
The NFF disclosed this on Tuesday while dismissing a purported letter circulating in sections of the media and allegedly issued by FIFA concerning the recent changes in the federation's leadership. The federation described the document as totally fake, insisting that FIFA had already accepted the resignations of the former NFF officials.
The NFF further disclosed that discussions involving the National Sports Commission, the NFF administration and the Confederation of African Football are ongoing with FIFA on comprehensive reforms aimed at restructuring Nigerian football.
According to the federation, the discussions are focused on establishing a roadmap for the reforms in accordance with the relevant rules, regulations and statutes governing the sport.
The federation reiterated that FIFA had already accepted the resignations of the former principal officers and members of the NFF Executive Committee, adding that consultations among the NSC, the NFF administration and CAF, in conjunction with FIFA, are continuing as part of efforts to implement comprehensive reforms in Nigerian football.
