FIFA has celebrated Asisat Oshoala's outstanding performance at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada, describing her seven-goal haul as one of the tournament's standout individual campaigns.

The world football governing body, in a feature published on its website, recalled how the Nigerian forward announced herself on the international stage at the tournament, winning both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball.

Oshoala remains the only African player to have won the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Golden Boot. FIFA noted that her impressive campaign in Canada 2014 served as a major springboard for her career.
