Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has officially unveiled the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone.

The First Lady performed the ceremony at the Old Governor's Lodge in Amawbia, Anambra State, as part of the Federal Government's efforts to strengthen food security and social welfare across the country.

The South-East zonal food bank is designed to support vulnerable groups affected by economic hardship, including widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers and young children. The programme will provide essential food assistance as well as nutrition education to beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu said the initiative is a key component of the Renewed Hope Initiative, aimed at reducing hunger, promoting grassroots development and improving human capital across communities.

She said the programme also supports Federal Government policies targeted at reducing poverty, promoting sustainable agriculture and strengthening social safety nets in Anambra State and the wider South-East.
