NAFDAC DG Says She Inherited N3.2bn Liabilities on Assuming Office in 2017

The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Mojisola Adeyeye, says she inherited liabilities of about three-point-two billion naira when she assumed office in 2017.
Adeyeye disclosed this at a press conference in Lagos, where she spoke about her efforts to restore the agency's image and improve its financial standing.
She said the inherited debts included about one-point-six billion naira in unpaid taxes, seven hundred million naira owed to staff who travelled for Good Manufacturing Practice activities, and approximately four hundred million naira owed to contractors.
The NAFDAC boss said she responded by cutting the agency's expenditure, particularly on official travels, to free up funds to settle the outstanding liabilities.
Adeyeye also alleged that she faced calls for her resignation from both within and outside the agency.
