The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with key international partners as the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit gets underway in India.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this today in a statement issued in Abuja.

Nkwocha said Nigeria's participation in the summit would provide another opportunity to strengthen partnerships in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, solid minerals, technology and innovation. He said the engagement would also enable Nigeria to promote greater cooperation among countries of the Global South.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu at the summit, which is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

While in New Delhi, Shettima is expected to join leaders of BRICS member and partner countries at plenary and high-level sessions focused on global economic growth, multilateral cooperation and shared development priorities.
