Nigeria's economy has recorded stronger growth, expanding by 4.43 per cent in the second quarter of 2026.
The Finance Ministry says the growth is an improvement from the 4.23 per cent recorded in the same period of 2025, and the 3.89 per cent recorded in the first quarter of this year.
It says the stronger second quarter performance lifted Nigeria's economic growth for the first half of 2026 to 4.16 per cent, compared with 3.68 per cent in the first half of 2025.
The ministry says the growth is becoming more broad based, with 27 economic subsectors recording real growth of more than three per cent during the quarter, compared with 23 subsectors in the same period last year.
Manufacturing grew by 3.24 per cent, while agriculture expanded by 4.39 per cent. The services sector, the largest contributor to growth, also rose by 4.60 per cent.
The Finance Ministry attributed part of the improvement in the economy's dollar value to the relative stability and appreciation of the naira.
