The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of popular political commentator, Ibrahim Danshagamu.

Danshagamu was attacked at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2026. According to him, unknown hoodlums allegedly forced their way into the victim's residence and attacked him with sharp objects.

The police said a distress call was received from the Commander of the Gaida Vigilante Group, prompting the immediate deployment of officers from the Kumbotso Police Division to the scene.

Danshagamu was rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in Kano for emergency treatment, but was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical doctor.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, directed the Kumbotso Divisional Police Officer to work with tactical units and community stakeholders to identify and arrest those responsible.
