Police Commemorate UN Day of Cooperation, Cite Cross-Border Arrest of Murder Suspect

The Nigeria Police Force has joined law enforcement agencies around the world in commemorating the United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation, stressing the importance of cross-border collaboration in tackling transnational crime, protecting vulnerable people and improving public safety.
In a statement issued in Abuja today, the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the observance highlights the growing need for international cooperation as criminal networks increasingly operate across national boundaries.
Iniedu noted that modern criminal activities now frequently involve multiple jurisdictions, with online fraudsters targeting victims in different countries and organised crime groups involved in the movement of people, illicit goods and criminal proceeds across borders.
The police said international cooperation during the year under review contributed to the arrest of Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, a murder suspect wanted in connection with the abduction and killing of an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The police emphasised that such cooperation enables law enforcement agencies to track and apprehend fugitives across jurisdictions, preventing international borders from becoming a shield for criminals and ensuring that victims and affected communities have access to justice.
