The Gombe State Police Command has deployed personnel and operational assets across Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye Local Government Areas ahead of Saturday's by-election in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency.

The election, scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for September 19, 2026, will be conducted across the three local government areas.

The police command, in collaboration with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, says the deployment is aimed at ensuring adequate security before, during and after the election.

In a statement issued today by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Chuso, the command said personnel had been deployed to INEC offices, collation centres, polling units and other strategic locations.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police had ordered adequate deployment of personnel and operational assets to provide comprehensive security coverage for the electoral exercise.
