The Nigeria Police Force says it has uncovered an examination fraud syndicate allegedly impersonating the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Segun Aina.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja.

According to the statement, one suspect, identified as Nwogba Arinze, has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend another suspect, Nnabuife Nwekpa, who was identified as the principal suspect.

Iniedu said the syndicate was uncovered by the police intelligence, operations and investigation unit attached to the JAMB headquarters, following a petition submitted by Aina on August 10. The petition alleged criminal conspiracy, impersonation, identity theft and fraud.

The Inspector-General of Police, Rilwan Olatunji Disu, subsequently approved an investigation, which initially extended to Nasarawa and Katsina states to track those involved.
