Vice President Kashim Shettima has stressed the importance of reliable and transparent financial reporting in building investor confidence and strengthening Nigeria's economic stability.
Shettima made the remarks while speaking through his Chief Special Adviser on Economic Matters, Tope Fasua, at the commissioning of the new permanent headquarters of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria in Lagos.
The Vice President said Nigeria's abundant natural resources, human capital and financial resources would not be enough to guarantee sustainable economic growth without strong and credible institutions that inspire public and investor confidence.
He said a credible financial reporting system would reduce information gaps, improve investment decisions, strengthen corporate accountability, protect investors and enhance the credibility of Nigeria's financial markets.
