Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged transport operators mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027 to conduct their campaigns peacefully and responsibly.

Shettima gave the charge today at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, during the inauguration of the National Working Committee and nationwide structures of Transporters for Tinubu/Shettima 2027.

Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, the Vice President urged members to use their nationwide networks to promote national unity, combat misinformation and encourage responsible political participation.

He warned against intimidation, threats, electoral misconduct and the spread of false information, stressing that political campaigns should be issue-based and democratic rather than confrontational.

Shettima also commended the group for bringing together operators across road transport, rail, aviation, maritime, logistics, inland motorcycle operations and pipeline transportation.

He described transportation as vital to Nigeria's economy and urged operators to work with government and other stakeholders to improve passenger safety, enforce traffic regulations and embrace new technologies.
