The Sokoto State Government has ordered the closure of the Musa Lukuwa Jumu'at Mosque in Mabera, Sokoto metropolis, following the recent attack and killing at the mosque.

According to a statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity at Government House, Abubakar Bawa, the mosque will remain closed until further notice, as it has been described as a crime scene.

The development follows religious tension in parts of the metropolis, including the reported stabbing of Islamic cleric, Malam Musa Lukuwa, shortly after he led Jumu'at prayers at the mosque.

The government has also constituted a committee of Islamic scholars to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the incident, and advise on measures to prevent a recurrence.

It further ordered a full investigation into the attack and the killing at the mosque.
