President Bola Tinubu has called for a renewed continental effort to end the exploitation of Africa's critical mineral resources.

The President made the call through Vice-President Kashim Shettima at the third Africa Minerals Strategy Group High-Level Roundtable on Critical Minerals Development in Africa. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The roundtable, convened and chaired by President Tinubu alongside the Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, focused on transforming Africa's mineral wealth into sustainable economic growth.

He called for stronger cooperation to move the continent from being a supplier of raw materials to becoming a hub for mineral processing, manufacturing and value addition.

The President said Africa must ensure that its mineral resources translate into economic opportunities and improved living conditions for its people.
