President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of Peter Chukwuemeka Chijioke Onwubuariri, an Assistant Director, Media, at the State House, describing his passing as a significant loss to the Presidency, the media community and Nigeria.

Onwubuariri, a veteran journalist and public servant, died after a prolonged illness. He had served in the media teams of three successive administrations at the Presidential Villa.

In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Onwubuariri for his professionalism, dedication and commitment to public service.

The late journalist, who previously served as a North American Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria, was posted to the Presidential Villa in 2014. He subsequently served under former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari before continuing his public service under President Tinubu.

The President described him as a dedicated journalist whose calm disposition and professionalism earned him the respect of colleagues and associates. He extended his condolences to Onwubuariri's wife, Catherine, his three children, extended family members, colleagues and friends, and prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family, asking God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
