President Bola Tinubu said his administration has tolerated criticism without reprisals, assuring Nigerians that they can insult or attack him and still sleep peacefully at night. The President, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, stated this on Thursday at the centenary celebration of the Daily Times of Nigeria Limited in Abuja.

According to him, tolerance for criticism is central to his Renewed Hope Agenda and commitment to press freedom. He said his administration recognised the media's important role in shaping the nation, adding that Nigeria's challenges are rooted in structural weaknesses that had accumulated over decades.

The President noted that his administration's reforms are aimed at changing the country's trajectory by strengthening its fiscal foundation, improving productivity, strengthening institutions, attracting investment, upgrading infrastructure and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.
