President Bola Tinubu has warned Nigeria's Regional Development Commissions against wasting public funds on poorly conceived projects. The President says the era of costly white elephant projects with little benefit to citizens is over.

Tinubu gave the warning in Abuja while declaring open the first North Central Stakeholders Development Summit, organised by the North Central Development Commission, NCDC.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the President urged the commissions to focus on projects with clear objectives, realistic funding and measurable benefits to the communities they serve.

He warned that the commissions must not become conduits for the waste of public resources.

President Tinubu also cautioned against corruption, political interference, marginalisation and ethnic considerations in the allocation and execution of projects.
