Woman Arraigned for Pouring Boiling Water on Neighbour in Abuja Over Compound Space

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested a woman, Beauty Monday, for allegedly pouring boiling water on her neighbour during an argument over the use of a shared compound space in the Lugbe area of Abuja.
The police said the incident occurred on September 4, 2026, following a disagreement between Monday and her neighbour, identified as Gift Amos.
According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the victim reported the matter at the Lugbe Police Division on September 6.
Adeh said preliminary investigations showed that the dispute began after Amos allegedly moved Monday's pot of boiling water from a stove to the section of the compound allocated to her.
The action reportedly angered the suspect, who allegedly picked up the pot and poured the boiling water on Amos's back, causing serious burns and other injuries. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment for the injuries sustained in the incident.
The police spokesperson said Monday had been arraigned before a court and remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings. The case was adjourned until September 16, 2026.
