The World Bank attracted a record 112 billion dollars in private capital for developing economies in its 2026 fiscal year, more than tripling the amount recorded four years earlier.

The lender disclosed this in a statement saying private capital mobilisation had risen from 35 billion dollars in fiscal 2022 to 112 billion dollars in fiscal 2026, while total financing and mobilisation by the World Bank Group in developing economies exceeded 200 billion dollars during the year.

The increase was recorded across income groups, with private capital mobilisation in lower-middle-income countries rising to 37 billion dollars from 14 billion dollars in fiscal 2022.

Mobilisation in upper-middle-income countries increased to 50 billion dollars from 12 billion dollars over the same period.

In low-income countries, where attracting private investment remains more difficult, mobilisation was maintained at about 3 billion dollars.
