2027 Elections: IGP Disu Promises Professional Conduct by Police

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has assured Nigerians that police officers will demonstrate professionalism before, during and after the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that their conduct will make citizens proud of the force. Disu gave the assurance while speaking with journalists after the launch of a book written by 96-year-old Dame Stella Okuyiga, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police and one of the first 20 female officers recruited into the Nigeria Police Force. The police chief disclosed that the force had recently held a conference involving commissioners of police and other senior officers to review its performance in previous elections and identify areas requiring improvement ahead of the 2027 polls. He said the experience gathered from recent elections would help the police strengthen their preparedness and ensure better conduct during the forthcoming general election.
