Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged state governors to focus on serving their people and completing their constitutionally permitted eight-year tenure instead of pursuing political positions that are not available. Akpabio gave the advice at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja. Citing Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the Senate President urged President Bola Tinubu to take seriously the governor’s advice, likening unnecessary political manoeuvres to mending a piece of clothing that is not torn. He said governors should remain committed to their responsibilities and avoid abandoning the people who elected them. Akpabio, who governed Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015, noted that his eight years in office had taught him the importance of prioritising the welfare of the people.
