Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has described the Carabao Cup as the club’s least important competition this season, following their elimination in the fourth round.

The Blues were knocked out by Liverpool at Anfield after the match ended one-all in regulation time before the hosts won six-five on penalties to secure a place in the quarter-finals. Morgan Rogers had opened the scoring from the penalty spot for Chelsea, before Liverpool equalised with a spot kick of their own.

Speaking after the defeat, Alonso said the Carabao Cup was the least important competition for his side, adding that the Premier League remained their main focus this season.
