BUSINESS: NCC Records 6,500 Network Interventions, Compensates 75 Million Subscribers in 2026

The Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has disclosed that it carried out more than 6,500 network interventions in 2026 to improve telecommunications services across the country, while 75 million subscribers received compensation for poor network quality.
The commission also revealed that nearly three million subscribers were refunded for failed airtime and data transactions as it intensified efforts to improve service delivery and protect consumers.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Aminu Maida, disclosed this at the 95th Telecom Consumer Parliament in Lagos, where he reiterated the regulator’s commitment to ensuring that telecommunications operators deliver better services to subscribers.
Maida explained that the interventions involved upgrading telecommunications equipment, deploying additional network sites and expanding capacity in areas experiencing increased demand for voice calls and internet services.
He, however, stressed that investments in network infrastructure must produce tangible improvements in consumers’ experiences, particularly as telecommunications services have become essential to businesses, digital payments, education and other economic activities.
