The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, has identified investment in Nigerian financial markets, particularly naira-denominated instruments, as a key opportunity to strengthen financial ties between Nigeria and China.

Cardoso made this known during discussions with the chairman and senior management of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, ICBC.

He said greater participation by Chinese financial institutions in Nigeria’s markets could expand investment opportunities, deepen financial cooperation and promote sustainable economic growth.

The CBN governor noted that Nigeria’s stronger financial foundations had created a more predictable environment for investment and business activities.

He stressed that the priority was to consolidate economic stability and translate it into deeper financial markets, increased investment and stronger financial flows between both countries.

Cardoso also highlighted the potential role of ICBC in connecting its international networks and corporate relationships with investment opportunities in Nigeria.
