Ramsey Nouah Reveals He Has Never Won AMVCA

Veteran Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah has revealed that he has never won an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award, despite his decades-long career in the Nigerian film industry. Nouah made the disclosure during an appearance on podcast, where he recalled his nomination for the Best Actor category in 2011 for his performance in the historical drama 76. The actor said he was nominated alongside prominent industry figures, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, and the late Olu Jacobs. According to Nouah, he ultimately lost the award, which he attributed partly to the voting system used at the time. He explained that the AMVCA was then largely determined by viewers’ votes, unlike the current system, which combines public voting with the decisions of a professional jury. He noted that the voting structure at the time favoured nominees with stronger social media followings and online visibility. Despite missing out on the award, Nouah said he remains one of Nollywood’s most recognisable and enduring actors, with a career spanning several decades and numerous film roles.
