Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has encouraged Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to remain confident and focused as he begins his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Ronaldo, who has been the Georgian international’s childhood idol, sent the message of support following the 25-year-old’s injury, which is expected to keep him out of action during a challenging period of rehabilitation. According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a post on X today, Ronaldo urged Kvaratskhelia not to allow the setback to undermine his confidence or determination.

Kvaratskhelia sustained the ACL injury in his right knee during Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Barcelona. PSG confirmed that the winger would undergo surgery in the coming days, dealing a significant blow to the French champions and the player, who had been enjoying an impressive run of form before the injury. Following the diagnosis, Kvaratskhelia expressed his disappointment, admitting that he had struggled to accept the setback after preparing thoroughly for the match.

Despite the disappointment, the Georgian forward vowed to work hard throughout his rehabilitation and return to action stronger for the supporters who have continued to stand by him.
