President Bola Tinubu has approved 631.3 billion naira for the construction and rehabilitation of nine major road projects across the country. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced this while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Umahi said the projects are spread across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and are expected to improve transportation, boost economic activities and enhance connectivity between major commercial centres.

He explained that the approval forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to address the country’s road infrastructure challenges. The Minister added that the projects would be closely monitored to ensure quality standards and timely completion, noting that contractors had been directed to mobilise to their respective sites immediately.

Umahi also assured Nigerians that due process was followed in awarding the contracts, insisting that the government had secured value for money despite the substantial cost of the projects.
