President Bola Tinubu says he has no regrets over the removal of the fuel subsidy, insisting that Nigeria will not return to the policy. The President spoke at a political forum tagged “Together Till 2027: An Evening with Original City Boy,” organised by the City Boy Movement in collaboration with the Relax-Tinubu-Is-Fixing-Nigeria movement, both of which are campaigning for his re-election in 2027. Tinubu said Nigeria was heading towards bankruptcy before his administration removed the subsidy. He also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, over his promise to restore the subsidy. Comparing the policy change to the biblical exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, the President said the country could not return to the past. Tinubu maintained that Nigeria's economy was growing steadily and expressed confidence that the country was on the right path. He urged his supporters to view the 2027 general election as a contest for their own future, rather than his personal political ambition. The President, however, acknowledged that the past three years had been difficult for Nigerians, noting that his administration had taken several tough decisions.
