Ukraine Accuses Russia of Striking Energy Facilities Hours After Ceasefire Announcement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia has attacked six Ukrainian energy facilities just hours after United States President Donald Trump announced an agreement on an energy ceasefire between the two countries. Zelensky said the strikes targeted gas facilities, energy infrastructure and other installations, leaving 33 people injured across the country. Ukraine's state news agency, Ukrinform, reported power outages in the city of Izyum after a Russian strike damaged electricity networks. Energy and railway infrastructure in western Ukraine were also reportedly targeted, while fresh power cuts were recorded in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia. Ukraine's state-owned grid operator, Ukrenergo, said electricity rationing had been introduced in some areas to prevent damaged equipment from becoming overloaded. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Ukraine did not deserve the respite that a ceasefire would provide. Zelensky described the attacks as evidence that Moscow was unwilling to accept an energy ceasefire.
