US Military Plans Livestream of Fort Hood Shooter’s Execution

The United States military plans to livestream the execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan. A Pentagon official disclosed, following Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth’s announcement that the execution would be conducted publicly. The official, who spoke to newsmen on Thursday, said further details about the planned livestream would be released later. Hasan, a former US Army psychiatrist, was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring dozens of others during a shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009. His execution is scheduled for December 3 and would mark the first US military execution since 1961 and the first by firing squad since World War II. Hegseth announced the planned execution in a video posted on X by official Pentagon accounts. Speaking to right-wing influencer Jack Posobiec, the defence secretary said Hasan would be executed by a firing squad of soldiers. He added that making the execution accessible to the public would demonstrate the consequences of attacks against military personnel.
