The Confederation of African Football has announced that Nigeria will host its Ordinary General Assembly in Abuja in November.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe made the announcement during a press briefing in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he outlined the organisation's plans following the 2026 FIFA World Cup and its football development agenda across the continent.

Motsepe described Nigeria as a proud football nation, saying the decision to hold the General Assembly in Abuja reflects CAF's commitment to ensuring that all 54 member associations benefit from the organisation's development programmes and investments, adding that the governing body is working to strengthen football across Africa through initiatives tailored to individual countries.

Motsepe also expressed disappointment over Nigeria's absence from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, noting that the tournament lacked the presence of one of Africa's traditional football powers, and encouraged African countries to continue pursuing greater success on the global stage.
