Nigeria's D'Tigers have secured qualification for the second round of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers after edging Guinea 80-79 in a thrilling Group C encounter in Luanda.

The victory ended Guinea's unbeaten run in the group and marked Nigeria's second consecutive win in the qualifying window. D'Tigers had earlier defeated Tunisia 84-81, boosting their chances of advancing after suffering two defeats in the previous qualifying phase.

Against Guinea, the Nigerian side trailed by six points at the end of the third quarter but mounted a strong comeback to snatch a dramatic one-point victory.

The result ensures Nigeria's progression to the next stage of the qualifiers alongside Guinea. D'Tigers will round off their Group C campaign against Rwanda on Sunday.
