Nigeria finished fourth overall at the senior-level fencing tournament hosted at Rugby School Nigeria, Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, becoming the first African country to host the competition.

The host nation recorded an impressive medal haul of one gold, five silver and 18 bronze medals, with 17-year-old Oghenegaren Osievwa-Thompson making history by winning Nigeria's first international gold medal in fencing. Nigeria's debut wheelchair fencing team also played a key role in the country's performance, winning a significant share of the silver and bronze medals.

India emerged as the overall champions after dominating the six-day competition with 25 gold, 20 silver and 18 bronze medals. At the closing ceremony, the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, commended the Nigeria Fencing Federation, led by Adeyinka Samuel, for helping to raise Nigeria's profile on the international fencing stage.
