Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, best known for her hit song "Total Eclipse of the Heart," has died at the age of 75.

Her family announced that she passed away in a hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she had been receiving treatment for an illness following emergency intestinal surgery in May.

Bonnie Tyler rose to international fame in the 1980s with her distinctive husky voice and became one of the era's most recognisable recording artists. Her music earned global acclaim, with "Total Eclipse of the Heart" remaining one of her most enduring and celebrated songs.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer paid tribute to Bonnie Tyler, describing her as one of Britain's greatest recording artists whose music touched generations of listeners.
