Award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele says hard work, dedication and personal sacrifice have been the foundation of her success in Nigeria's film industry.

Akindele said her commitment to filmmaking has been the key factor behind her consistent box-office achievements.

She said she devoted herself almost entirely to her career over the years, explaining that she spent much of her time researching, writing and producing films, while paying little attention to personal grooming, social events and other leisure activities.

Akindele described the sacrifices as necessary to achieve her career goals, pointing to her latest film, Behind The Scene, which she said earned 2.7 billion naira at the box office.
