Nigerian rapper Ycee has expressed concern over what he describes as an increasing obsession with money, arguing that the desire for financial success is eroding ethical values in society.

In a recent interview, the artist said many people now judge actions by financial outcomes rather than by right or wrong, adding that this mindset has become deeply rooted, and noted that even countries facing conflict often display stronger social values than what he believes is currently evident in Nigeria.

Ycee also addressed the online debate surrounding the phrase "Olodo Uprising," clarifying that he did not create the expression. According to him, his comments were misunderstood, leading some people to wrongly accuse him of being elitist or looking down on others because of education.

Reflecting on his own academic background, the rapper revealed that he only completed secondary school and does not hold a university degree, explaining that although he once hoped to study Computer Science at the University of Lagos, he was unable to secure admission after missing the required cut-off mark. Ycee said his experience shows that educational achievements do not define a person's worth.
