The Nigeria Immigration Service NIS has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to help process pending, new and renewal passport applications for Nigerians living in the country.

The deployment was ordered by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, K. N. Nandap, to send the team from the NIS headquarters to the UK.

The team is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom today, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to facilitate passport enrolment, processing and issuance. As part of the exercise, the team will visit designated cities across the UK to allow eligible applicants in different locations to access the intervention without travelling to a single centre.

The exercise is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, those applying for new passports and holders whose passports have less than one year remaining before expiry and are seeking renewal.

Applicants are required to bring their completed application forms and proof of payment to their enrolment appointments. The NIS said details of the exercise, including the cities to be visited, dates, venues and enrolment times, would be announced separately.
