The National Emergency Management Agency and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency carried out a joint flood impact assessment in communities affected by three days of heavy rainfall in Lagos State.

The exercise covered parts of Alimosho, Ikeja, Kosofe and Lagos Island, aiming to determine damage, identify affected infrastructure, assess humanitarian needs and recommend interventions to the Federal Government.

Residents were sensitised on flood prevention, including proper refuse disposal and regular clearing of drains and canals. NEMA said prolonged rainfall combined with inadequate drainage caused widespread flooding, disrupting economic activity and displacing some residents.
