Nigeria's pension assets under the Contributory Pension Scheme have risen by 51 per cent over the past two years, increasing from 20.79 trillion naira in July 2024 to 31.48 trillion naira as of July 2026.

National Pension Commission Director-General, Omolola Oloworaran, announced the figures during a State House briefing in Abuja, describing the 10.7 trillion naira increase as the fastest two-year growth recorded since the scheme was introduced.

The commission attributed the expansion to stronger contributor confidence, increased participation and improved investment returns.

PenCom also reported an increase in pension enrolment, with the number of contributors growing from 10.42 million to 11.32 million over the same period, representing an addition of more than 938,000 contributors.
