CBN orders BDCs to sell unused FX within 24 hours

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed Bureau De Change operators to sell any unused foreign exchange purchased from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market within 24 hours after the utilisation period expires.
Under the new guidelines, BDCs are prohibited from holding unutilised FX. Failure to comply could result in regulatory sanctions, including the forfeiture of unused FX balances and suspension of access to the NFEM.
The CBN also requires BDCs to disclose any unutilised FX from the previous week when making new purchase requests, while authorised dealer banks must consider these balances in their weekly allocation calculations.
