The Delta State Government says its Internally Generated Revenue has increased from about 84 billion naira in 2023 to more than 200 billion naira in 2026, representing a growth of over 138 per cent.

Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Sunny Ekedayen, said the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has focused on agriculture, industrialisation, innovation and other non-oil sectors to drive sustainable economic growth.

He said the revenue growth was achieved without increasing personal income tax burdens on residents.

Ekedayen attributed the improvement to a wider tax base, better revenue administration, stronger compliance measures and more efficient collection processes.

He added that agriculture remains a major part of the state's diversification strategy, with public-private partnerships supporting large-scale production of crops such as cassava and oil palm through government-provided land and private sector investment.
