Festus Keyamo - Competition to reduce airfares across Nigeria

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, says increased competition among domestic airlines is helping to reduce airfares across Nigeria.
Keyamo said ticket prices have fallen considerably from the high fares recorded during the Christmas period.
Festus Keyamo attributed the decline in airfares to the entry of more airlines into the country's commercial aviation sector. He said Nigeria is witnessing a significant increase in new carriers, highlighting Enugu Air as one of the latest entrants and noting that Caliphate Airlines is set to begin operations in Sokoto.
The minister added that the new airlines are being established on more sustainable business models, unlike many domestic carriers in the past. He also said the Bola Tinubu administration is prioritising the growth and long-term sustainability of local airlines as part of efforts to strengthen the aviation sector.
