FCT Minister commends traditional rulers for backing infrastructure drive

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has commended traditional rulers across the territory for supporting government infrastructure projects without demanding financial inducements from contractors.
Speaking at the commissioning of the newly completed Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road network in Kwali Area Council, the Minister said the cooperation of monarchs had been central to keeping delivery timelines on track.
"When traditional institutions and government pull in the same direction, the pace of development doubles."
The 43-kilometre corridor is expected to cut travel time for rural communities by more than half and open up access to farm produce markets across the council.
Officials say similar community-government partnerships will be replicated across five more area councils before the end of the year.
