President Bola Tinubu has announced the launch of a training programme for 5,000 young Nigerians as meter installers and technicians under the Presidential Metering Initiative.

The President said the scheme, known as The Power Force, will provide participants with practical technical skills and connect them to employment opportunities within Nigeria's power sector.

He added that the Presidential Metering Initiative was established to close the metering gap, end estimated billing, protect electricity consumers and strengthen the power market.

The training programme is open to eligible Nigerians who have completed secondary school, with a dedicated quota reserved for members of the National Youth Service Corps. Tinubu expressed confidence the scheme would create jobs and equip young people with skills needed across the electricity sector.
